The Story Behind Superficial Inc.
According to the British Fashion Council, there are enough clothes on the planet right now to dress the next six generations of the human race!?!
One of the meany reasons Superficial Inc. is dedicated to producing sustainable, recycled fashion.
Designer Lindsey Boland began selling quirky, limited-run clothing made from repurposed materials to independent Brooklyn boutiques in the early 2000’s. After relocating to Chicago, Lindsey opened the Wicker Park boutique Habit. Fashioned after the stores she was selling at in New York, Habit specialized in showcasing independent designers. The in-house label was Lindsey’s Superficial Inc.
Lindsey believes clothing should be playful, fun and mindful. Quality recycled clothing and materials, is embellish or re-envisioned to give it new life. The aim is to create treasured pieces that stand apart from factory made fast fashion.
Named with tongue securely anchored in cheek, Superficial Inc. is meant to remind us not to take fashion too seriously. Hence the tagline: There is love, everything else is…superficial.
